Excerpts from the upcoming book:
Just before dawn, as the light came in,
they wake up to the sound of a horn.
They stopped at the dockside and got on a ship
that took them away from home.
It was a long trip that lasted for days.
The ocean was fierce the waves were ferocious.
The weather was rough, it was cold, it was raining.
They were told about this from the very beginning.
The stopped at some places and visited natives
of countries and islands between.
They found wonderful treasures and beautiful faces
they never knew or have seen.
The Cynical Cyclone
A little boy witnesses the coming of a cyclone.
Excerpts from the upcoming book.
I suddenly glanced beyond the horizon.
the colors were changing at the edge of the ocean.
The blue went away and replaced with the gray.
It was moving so fast, it was coming this way.
I saw boats swalled up by the ocean.
People were running with so much commotion.
I looked out my window when I got to my room.
I saw what it was, it was a typhoon.
It had a mean face, it was big, it was strong.
I looked at it's head each side had a horn.
It sucked up the ocean like using a straw.
My mother and I looked at it in awe.
Nantucket Sounds "A Guidebook for Parents and Kids."
A collection of short poems, limericks, and riddles on keypoints on Nantucket, along with photos portraying the island.
Excerpts from the upcoming book:
~~~~~~~~Sankaty Head Light~~~~~~~~
There's a lighthouse at Sankaty Head,
It's painted black, white, and red.
It was moved from the shore,
to protect it some more,
but it still sits on Sankaty Head.
~~~~~~~~The Beaches~~~~~~~~
There are beaches on Nantucket,
fine beaches all around.
You'll find some of the beaches,
just a walk away from town.
If you want some peace and quiet,
stay by the harbor side.
If you want to dare the waves,
go to the southern side.
No matter where you go,
just keep this thought in mind.
Leave the beaches neat and tidy,
so to go back another time.
~~~~~~~~Brant and Great~~~~~~~~
You see them when you get there,
you see them when you leave.
By day you see them where they are,
by night you see the light they give.
